MMA Equipment to Buy for Muay Thai, Kickboxing and Boxing
If you plan on taking muay thai, boxing or kickboxing classes, you should first equip yourself with a good pair of training gloves and hand wraps. When purchasing a gloves, look for a 16 oz. glove, with thick padding at the knuckles and ideally anti-microbial liner. Gloves have the tendency to get very wet. Without proper care, gloves will form mold and mildew inside the liner. If you have the option, pick a glove with anti-microbial liner.
Hand wraps are extremely important and should not be overlooked when purchasing gloves. Hand wraps not only minimize cuts to your knuckles, but more importantly protect the smaller bones in your hand from breaking. Our recommendation is the Everlast 180 Professional Handwraps, which provide the necessary length to properly wrap your hands and additionally are made with flexible cotton for a snug fit to the form of your hand.
If you're just beginning boxing, muay thai or kickboxing, chances are you won't need headgear immediately. However, you will need it after several weeks of training. So, to save yourself the cost of shipping in the future, it might be a good idea to order headgear and a mouth piece along with your gloves and wraps. Our recommendation is the Everlast Full Coverage Head Gear which offers a full range of coverage to protect your pretty face.

MMA Gear to Buy for Grappling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Sambo, Wrestling
If you plan on training with any ground sport, whether it be grappling, bjj, sambo or wrestling, there are some items that you must equip yourself with before stepping on the mat to roll (spar with an opponent). Protect yourself with a mouthpiece, cup, and antibacterial lotion. The mouthpiece is important for protecting your teeth. While your opponent attempts to pass your guard, or put you into a submission, it is not uncommon to accidently get hit in the mouth. Protect your teeth with a good mouthpiece. Protect the family jewels with a cup. Must a say more? Besides, no one wants your man junk hanging over them while grappling.
Finally, an item that most people overlook - antibacterial lotion / gel. Ever hear of ring worm? Staph Infection? While most gyms do their best to keep the wrestling mats as clean as possible, you still get some dirty bastards rolling on the shared mats. Play it safe and wipe your body down after a sparring session with some antibacterial lotion. Athletic Body Care offers an awesome hygiene pack with a defense lotion (to be used before rolling), skin sanitizer (for after your rolling session) and power wash (for in the shower).
